Important Message From Our Superintendent

There has been a great deal of media coverage and social media activity about the Arizona Educators United #RedforEd initiative involving teachers and others engaged in activities to bring attention to the issue of low public education funding in Arizona.

Teachers and community members have joined their voices to this cause. You may have seen groups of staff assembling on public sidewalks near our schools and then walking into their schools to begin the day. The walk in gatherings have been before school and did not have an impact on the regular school day. We want to commend our teachers for the professional way they have handled themselves and for the respect they have shown our students and families.

Governor Ducey has proposed a plan that would provide teacher pay increases and help provide funding for District Additional Assistance (DAA). DAA provides monies for capital items such as buses, buildings, computers, textbooks, and classroom materials. The Arizona State Legislature will need to draft legislation and vote on the governor’s proposed budget before next year’s funding is assured.

According to social media posts and media reports, the Arizona Education Association and Arizona Educators United #RedforEd organizers have suggested a potential school walkout. We are working to find alternatives that will support our teachers, but avoid disrupting the school day for students.

We strongly encourage you to please read Superintendent Freeman's letter in its entirety.

Leadership Day

Our second annual leadership day is on Thursday, April 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the library. Be on the lookout for more information!

Safety Attending Mustang Sporting Events

Student safety is our top priority in the Littleton Elementary School District, which is why we ask that all students who attend sporting events on any Littleton ESD site come with a parent or guardian. We will not allow students to enter any sporting events without a parent/guardian. So please show your school spirit by accompanying your children when they want to root for their team.

Tax Credit Information

Reduce your Arizona state tax by contributing to Littleton Elementary District schools! The state of Arizona allows taxpayers to take advantage of wonderful tax credits. Please consider donating to the Littleton Elementary District schools. Simply download, print, and return a form to the district office or any one of our schools today. Our goal is to double the amount collected last year. We need your help to accomplish this! Remember, a tax credit is better than a tax deduction.

Keeping Our Kids Healthy

Children and adolescents should limit recreational use of a computer to less than two hours a day, according to Healthy People 2020. Daily physical activity for 60 minutes is recommended to keep our kids healthy. We encourage you to make physical activity fun and get in on the action!

Activity is essential for growing children to:

  • Improve bone health
  • Improve cardio-respiratory and muscular fitness
  • Decrease levels of body fat
  • Reduce symptoms of depression
